Finding Out About Your Disability Eligibility

Many residents of Wisconsin depend upon Social Security Disability benefits to pay for housing and buy their groceries. However, not everyone understands the requirements for eligibility. Also, it’s important not to take for granted one’s eligibility for disability payments.

At Midwest Disability, P.A., our attorneys do what we can in helping you obtain the benefits for which you are eligible. We make ourselves available to answer all of your questions and to provide assistance wherever possible.

What Are The Requirements For Meeting Disability Thresholds?

To qualify for Social Security Disability benefits, the Social Security Administration will look at:

  • Whether you are between the ages of 18 and 65
  • If you are currently receiving other Social Security benefits
  • Evidence that you cannot expect to be able to work for at least 12 months
  • Whether your disability prevents you from engaging in any work activity classified as substantially gainful
  • Documentation showing there has been no prior denial of disability for the past 60 days

It’s important to understand that the SSA generally rejects most applications of individuals applying for disability. A rejection may simply be due to the failure to appropriately list the conditions that could impact the ability to work.

However, even if a rejection does occur, determinations are not necessarily final. It is possible to reverse such a determination through a reconsideration or an appeal of your matter.

Our lawyers strive to help clients obtain their disability benefits. With over 50 years of combined legal experience, we will provide effective representation. We will listen to your concerns and help you understand the application process.
