Study: sleep problems plague some rheumatoid arthritis sufferers

There are many different types of diseases that can impact a person's ability to work. One such disease is rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis can have a wide variety of negative effects on its victims. A recent study indicates that one of the things rheumatoid arthritis sometimes causes its victims to experience are sleeping problems.

The study looked at a group of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers. The Huffington Post UK article which reported on this study did not mention how many individuals were in this sample group.

The researchers asked the individuals in the sample group to rate the quality of their sleep. They were asked to base this rating on a 0 to 10 scale, with 0 being high quality sleep and 10 being extremely poor quality sleep.

The answers the individuals in the group gave indicate that some of them experienced problems with their sleep. It seems likely that one of the things that contributed to these sleep problems was the great pain that can come about from rheumatoid arthritis. The median rating score given by the women in the sample group was 3.19 and the median rating score given by the men in the group was 2.41.

According to researchers, some of the impacts the sleep problems had on the study's participants were: impaired mental function, fatigue and physical ability reductions.

Sleep problems are one of the many impacts rheumatoid arthritis can have on an individual. Some of the impacts of this disease can have major effects on a person's ability to work. Losses when it comes to the ability to work can have major impacts on a person.

One of the main roles of Social Security disability benefits is to help individuals whose ability to work has been compromised by a disability. The process of applying for Social Security Disability benefits can be a very complex one. Thus, if a person is considering applying for Social Security benefits in relation to a disability, he or she may wish to consider seeking advice from an experienced disability attorney.
