Can disabled children receive Social Security benefits?

A lot of Minneapolis parents of special needs children do not realize that their disabled child might be able to qualify for Social Security benefits. However, some disabled children under the age of 18 can qualify for special benefits through the Social Security Administration and its Supplemental Security Income program.

Helping disabled veterans in Minnesota

No Minnesota resident wants to hear that disabled United States veterans are coming home from war and not being properly taken care of by the veterans' benefits they deserve. However, this is a sad reality that many veterans face after risking their lives, serving their country and becoming disabled.

Common disabilities in children

More and more American children are reportedly suffering from disabilities. Back in 2000, just 7 percent of all children were reported to have some type of disability, but that had jumped to 8 percent by 2012. While that may not seem like a huge rise, one also has to consider that the population has also increased over that time period, and that the change came in just a dozen years. Below are some of the most common disabilities that were noted:

April is Autism Awareness Month

Happy Autism Awareness Month. Every April, the Autism Society promotes its nationwide campaign to increase awareness of autism-related issues. The larger goal of the campaign is increase inclusion and self-determination for everyone in the United States, regardless their health and/or disability status. The Autism Society hopes that everyone who has Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, will have the opportunity to experience the highest quality of life that is possible for them.
