Do I get medicare?

by | Nov 30, 2023 | SSD - Social Security Disability |

It depends which type of disability you are eligible for. If you are eligible for Supplemental Security Income, you will NOT be eligible for Medicare. If you are eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, then YES you will be eligible for medicare, but not until you have been disabled for 24 months. This does not mean 24 months after you get your decision, and in many cases your eligibility kicks in at the same time as receiving the decision. It is 24 months after your alleged onset date, which is the day you told Social Security you became disabled on your application.
